Our Motto:

"We can all be a light in the darkness."

About

Us

Grief comes from "Dolus," which means pain; any loss that causes us pain is grief. It is the natural, universal, and personal reaction to a loss, which depending on its nature, leads to different experiences of grief, for example: the death of a loved one, the end of an important relationship, job loss, health, an important relationship, or independence due to a disability.

Abrazo Agape Foundation was founded on January 9, 2023 it was born from the families experience of facing the loss of a Husband and father. The spiritual and emotional support received unexpectedly and unconditionally from family, friends and the community was so gratifying that it allowed them to face suffering in a different way. Seeing the manifestation of God's love in this accompaniment allowed the experience of suffering to transform into permanent peace in their hearts, and under the premise that every grieving person needs support, understanding, validation, and empathy. If you or someone you know is going through grief or loss, we are here to help.

Mission

The mission of Abrazo Agape Foundation is to accompany and provide the community with grief support services, education, and resources so that their broken hearts can find peace and hope again. Since early 2023, Abrazo Agape Foundation has helped hundreds of mourners on their journey to hope, growth, and healing.

Vision

By 2026, we will be a financially and operationally sustainable organization; equipped with the necessary tools for mourners to find hope and meaning in their lives.

How we do it?

1. Personal accompaniment:

Accompany the grieving individual with love and selflessness, providing attentive listening, allowing for emotional release, and offering consolation.

• Initial contact: Gather complete information, contact them as soon as possible, and schedule the first listening session.

• Listening: In-person or virtual. Provide silent support and listen attentively as the grieving individual expresses their feelings, while they regain strength and confidence.

2. Group accompaniment:

  • Mutual support groups: Connect the grieving individual with others who have experienced similar situations, allowing them to converse, support each other, and share coping strategies.

  • Grief and loss workshops (Virtual & In-person): Accompany and prepare the grieving individuals with love, empathy, and structured support material through group activities.

  • Crisis intervention for families.

  • Promote a culture of grieving through courses that enhance understanding of grief and share coping strategies.

  • Virtual intervention: Two phone calls prior to joining the mutual support group.

Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:

where there is hatred, let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
 to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.
